Majors

Majors

League Age: 10-12

Majors plays six-inning games on a Little League (46/60) field, with few modified playing rules. All players are in the batting order, and defensive substitutions can be made freely.

Draft: Players are assigned to teams based on a draft. League Age 12 players can only play in Majors; League Age 10 and 11 players who participated in the player assessment are eligible to be drafted into Majors.

Keeper: Majors is a “keeper” division - players remain on the same team until they age out of the division

Player Assessment: Little League International mandates a player assessment to be eligible for Majors, even for those players who will be League Age 12. All players who have not played in the Majors Division before and wish to be draft-eligible MUST participate in the player assessment.

IMPORTANT notes about the Assessment:

If a League Age 12 player who did not previously play in the Majors Division does NOT attend the assessment, that player cannot be placed on any team in any division.

If a League Age 10 or 11 player who did not previously play in the Majors Division does NOT attend the assessment, that player cannot be drafted to the Majors Division, and can only play in AAA.

Game Schedule: 15-18 regular-season games, followed by playoffs and a three-game Championship Series. Games are played 2-3 evenings per week, plus Saturdays. Rainouts may be rescheduled on Sundays.

Other Information: All teams must have exactly 12 players. Depending on the on the number of teams being fielded, the number of returning players, and the number of League Age 12 players who must play in Majors, not all League Age 10 and 11 players who are eligible for the Majors draft will be drafted to a Majors team. These players will instead play in AAA.

Game Schedule: 2-3 evenings per week, plus Saturdays, with playoffs and a Championship Game. Rainouts may be rescheduled on Sundays.

Majors Call-Ups: Under two situations, a AAA player may be called up to the Majors Division - (1) if a Majors player suffers a lengthy or season-ending injury, or (2) if a Majors player leaves a team. In either case, the Majors manager, working with the Player Agent, must select a replacement player from AAA. Only those players who are League Age 10 or 11 AND attended the player assessment are eligible to be called up. The called-up player does not have the option to remain in AAA, and must move up to Majors.

Other Information: Madison Little League has a target of 12 players per team in AAA - the actual number may vary based on the number of players registered and the number of volunteer coaches. All League Age 10 and 11 players not playing in Majors must play in AAA, which will affect the number of League Age 9 players who will be drafted to play in AAA. Undrafted League Age 9 players will play in the AA division.
